Hi there! I'm happy to serve as Children's Ministry Director of Clayton Presbyterian Church. This is a great place to be—a church where new things are happening and new families are welcomed each week, a church that's passionately committed to children and the community.

A life-long North Carolinian, I was educated at Meredith College in Raleigh, where I received a Bachelor's degree in English and communications. After working in the “real world” for awhile, I returned to school to earn my Master's degree in English from NC State University.

Interests

  • Reading, especially NC writers and poets
  • Yoga
  • Hanging out with the other redheads at my house
  • Finding cool stuff to get (and keep) kids jazzed about church
  • Free time (what happened to mine?!)

My early career was spent in public relations, event planning and communications for non-profit organizations and small companies. After my children were born, I taught preschool and worked as an educator and events specialist with the NC Museum of Natural Sciences. I found this work to be much more fun than doing public relations work for grown-ups!

My experiences at the Museum led me to a call in children's ministry—an area where my skills in program/event planning and teaching, as well as my personal penchant for fun and silliness, could come together for the greatest good. After much prayer and soul-searching, God brought me and my family to Clayton Presbyterian Church.

As a parent of two young children, I know first-hand how important faith is to a child's personal growth and well-being. Even from the earliest days, our kids need to know and experience in their own way the love and salvation of Jesus Christ. Building a firm foundation of faith helps kids navigate the tough choices of the adolescent and young adult years with spiritual and moral confidence.

All that being said, there's nothing that says that learning about the Bible, God and Jesus has to be boring! And here at CPC, it's our goal to make it anything but. Our church offers fun and age-appropriate programs, mission projects, outings and entertainment that will help your child grow in their faith, have a good time and make new friends in the process.

But don't take my word for it—come visit us any Sunday and let your kids be the judge. If you have any questions or would like more information about our children's ministry program, please email me. Thanks!
